Introducing the .NET Rocks! TechEd: Developers Barcelona Sweepstakes
You could win airfare, hotel, and a ticket to TechEd: Developers Europe 2006 in Barcelona, Spain November 7-10 by simply filling out this form and helping us get some more accurate metrics of our listenership.
First, fill out this form and tell us a few things about yourself and the extent of your DNR fandom! Then, come back every week from now until October 24th and answer a question about the current show (which you can only know by listening).
We will pick a winner every week from the correct answers, and that person will be in the running for the big drawing on October 24th. Weekly winners will also receive a piece of swag (you get to pick) from the .NET Rocks! Useless Crap Store.
Make sure you answer all the demographics and usage questions. You only have to do that once. Then continue on to the weekly question about the show.
Good Luck!

Pwop Feeds now contain last 20 shows
For the longest time we’ve only included the current show in our podcast feeds. We did this because most of the podcatchers out there weren’t smart enough to not re-download every old show every time the feed changes. Long story short, we have been told that most of the podcatchers are smarter now, and could we please include more than the last show in the feed.
Your wish is granted. Now the feeds include the last 20 shows.

Infocenter has arrived!
From http://www.marcmercuri.com/PermaLink,guid,cd6a076c-d929-4853-94b4-fb178658bf5a.aspx:
“It should be pointed out that this is a CTP - not a released product/project. It's still rough in spots, but it's more than functional enough for people to start using it and deriving value from it. The work on categories (searching), media syncing, more media management, rating, and some other bits is coming next.
I've pre-stocked the directory with almost 200 channels, so there's plenty of content. I will be adding even more channels this weekend, and you can always add your own channels via the 'Manage My Subscriptions' area of the guide. “

Free apartment in NYC for one year - on top of a New York salary!
So I got a call from Greg Brill, Nick Landry's boss in New York, who runs Infusion. They are in the financial trading software business. He's looking to get some ".NET Rocks! Listener" quality developers to come to New York for one year and work for them. To sweeten the pot, he's kicking in a free apartment in New York and air fare for one year. He also indicated that they would help with moving expenses. I talked to Greg about this on .NET Rocks! this week. It's right at the beginning of the show. This is a great opportunity for any .NET developer to get some killer experience swimming with the sharks in the Big Apple. I don't know if you've been keeping up with rent in NYC, but check out this quote from a recent article about NYC real estate prices in Forbes Magazine: "In Manhattan specifically, the average rent came in at a whopping
$48.33 per square foot--an estimate supported by July figures from Citi Habitats,
a New York City-area real estate agency. The median monthly rent for a
studio apartment in Manhattan is more than $1,900, according to Citi
Habitats. If it's a three-bedroom spread that you're after, prepare to
fork over somewhere in the neighborhood of $5,000." So, consider doing the Jerry Seinfeld thing for a year, save up some cash, and get experience working for a major financial software company. Oh, and you get to pal around with ActiveNick. No extra charge. You can contact Greg directly by email at gbrill at infusiondev dot com

Mondays #58 - The Best of Mark Miller Part 1

The Best of Mark Miller Part 1
We've gone back through the archives, and after realizing how crappy the first 11 shows were, we included Mark's Dumbah than Me segments starting at show #12, which is when he began doing the 'You Sir...' bit. Of course there are various stories mixed in. Hey, it's the best of! Consider this a prelude to Millahseconds! You can hear Kirk Webb and Nick Landry in some of the early bits.
